Lahti Pelicans defenseman Juha Leimu
made history on Tuesday 15.12 by recording the fastest hat trick in Finnish
Liiga history. Juha Leimu recorded a natural hat trick just in 44 seconds!
Pelicans was helped by the fact
they were on a 5-on-3 advantage the entire time. They actually scored
four times in the final 1:50 of the second period thanks to a pair of
game misconduct penalties giving them all that power play time.
Leimu, who was sporting the gold
helmet as the team’s leading scorer, breaks the record set by Erkki
Suokko, who notched a hat trick in 50 seconds back in 1961.
After all Pelicans lost the game 6-5 to JYP.
